Why building another proposal generator?

Why do we need another proposal generator?
The main reason is because we can do much better than "Dear hiring manager".
Writing is hard and time consuming. Cookie-cutter cover letters don't work. It's fairly easy now to take a job description, combine it with some overview of one's skills and past projects, and ask ChatGPT to generate a cover letter. No surprise that a ton of tools doing precisely that have emerged recently. I've tried quite a few of them and noticed that in the majority of cases the "ask ChatGPT" part is way too basic. For instance, the notorious "Dear hiring manager" at the beginning of each cover letter is a clear sign, that too little attention was paid to asking the right question.
With any kind of generative AI it's rather easy to get some fantastic results with manual supervision and trial and error, and it's very hard to build a product that consistently produces decent results without supervision. A tool like proposal generator appears simple on the surface, but hides a lot of complexity under the hood. Or this is how it should be. Otherwise, it's just useless.
The "Kit" in uwKit represents a goal to grow it into a more capable thing than just a generator. It is still in its early days, but we think we have a pretty good idea of how to build something bigger than an interface for ChatGPT.
Is it OK to use a generator? Isn't this cheating?
I envy you if you don't have trouble writing every single proposal from scratch. For me a blank text area with nothing but a blinking cursor is scary. In the past, I've often used my own fill-the-blanks kind of templates for repeating types of projects. Now I use uwKit instead 😊
On the other hand, a good generator, in my opinion, is much better than an automation tool that spams clients with pre-made proposals. In the spirit of that, uwKit will never send a proposal automatically. You should always read what is generated and edit it as needed.
Won't clients simply reject my generated proposals?
A good generator should create proposals that are unique for a particular freelancer and don't appear generated. We acknowledge that this work is still ongoing. The goal with uwKit is to be able to generate proposals as close as possible to what is submitted, but you will always have the last word before hitting the Send button.
